Give us an overview of this project. What was your vision for this project and what were some of your primary goals?
My client’s only direction was that she wanted color. My goal was to create a space that contained rich color and texture, but not overwhelming color. We wanted the interiors to be sleek and urban, but timeless.
What inspired your design direction around the use of stone in this project?
I wanted stone that could anchor the project and provide drama and rich texture as the backdrop for the punches of color in the art and furniture.
“I love working with Stone Boutique because they are tenacious in their pursuit of the perfect slab.”
How did you make your stone selections for this project? What are elements you consider when selecting stone?
I worked very closely with Daniela at Stone Boutique. She knew that I wanted a white marble with dramatic veining for the living room and kitchen. She located some very special slabs in Italy and texted them to me, and we both knew they were the winner.
For the master bath, we wanted something soft and unique. Daniela found some gorgeous blush quartzite that instantly realized the bathroom. We chose to do full slabs in the shower in lieu of tile, dramatic mitered edges on the vanities, and integrated sinks to highlight the subtle yet rich blush tones in the quartzite.
What is it about the Stone Boutique experience and products that keeps you coming back?
I love working with Stone Boutique because they are tenacious in their pursuit of the perfect slab. Daniela and I will sift through 20 bundles until we’ve located the perfect fit. Designers can be high maintenance (I realize this), but they stay the course with me during the hunt.
